Feast of St. Boniface
A number of former St. Boniface parishioners will be attending the 1130AM Mass this Sunday, June 4, at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque parish in South County. Msgr. Norb Ernst will be celebrating this Mass in advance of the feast of St. Boniface (actual feast day is June 5) and to showcase the statues from St. Boniface church, which are now at St. Margaret Mary.
Also, the good works of the St. Vincent de Paul Society are continuing in the area. Here is a quote from the 5/21 St. Stephen bulletin below:
St. Stephen/St. Trinity Food Pantry News
(The Pantry is sponsored by our parish St. Vincent DePaul Society & St. Trinity Lutheran Church)
After the parish merger, the St. Vincent DePaul Society remained committed to serve the people of the entire parish but we did not want to duplicate food pantry services already in existence. We combined forces with the wonderful folks at St. Trinity Lutheran Church and found a welcome home in their old school building on Koeln Ave. Shortly after the St.Stephen/St, Trinity Food Pantry opened, a new challenge presented itself to us when the St. Joseph Outreach Center Food Pantry operated by the CCBF (Carondelet Community Betterment Federation) and Catholic Family Services closed due to the unsafe condition of the building. This Pantry was asked to absorb the resources and patrons of the Outreach Center pantry, to expand our services to meet their needs and to carry on their legacy of good works. We agreed to take on this challenge.
We’re delighted to report that the expanded pantry is now open three times a week and serving large numbers of needy area residents thanks to many people, especially the dedicated and welcoming St. Trinity volunteers, some committed workers from CCBF and various other groups. Last month alone, over 650 people were assisted with food and personal care items.
