Pews from churches are not considered sacred objects? Msgr. Vernon Gardin discusses this issue in regard to the razed St. Aloysius church, also closed in June 2005, in the latest St. Louis Review here (need subscriber number for full text of article.)

"Pews per se are not sacred objects," Msgr. Gardin said. "They do not have the same status as the tabernacle, sacred images, stations of the cross and so on."

Oct. 25 - Weddings section added to stbonifaceonline.com

Thanks to Dan Schneider, I've finally gotten around to putting in a Weddings section on the stbonifaceonline site. Dan sent over some incredible photos from his parents' wedding in 1948. and I just had to do it. :) Thanks Dan! Now I know what I'll be doing on Thanksgiving break (getting more out there!)

These photos show a church interior that I did not know, in terms of decoration, but if you look at a few things, you notice that some things never change and were retained until the parish closed in 2005.

Enjoy and if you'd like to contribute your own photos of weddings at St. Boniface, e-mail webmaster@stbonifaceonline.com

October 24 - St. Anthony Claret

See Saint-a-day for more information on today's saint.

I was out in South County today doing some errands while I'm on break from school. I met a lady who lived in St. Boniface when she first got married, then moved, then came back during the years prior to the closing. I also met one of Msgr. Norb Ernst's nephews who was sitting in the same room. It really is a small world!

As usual, I passed along the link to this page and to the web site. Visitors, please feel free to do the same. Lots of our marketing is via word of mouth.
