Fish fry review - St. Matthias, South County

Well, I went to my first fish fry this week, and I'll try to hit different ones each week.

St. Matthias is located at 796 Buckley Rd in South County and their fish fry is held each Friday during Lent.

Details:
$6.50 for an adult dinner, $6 for seniors, kids meals, more for crab cakes. Desserts and sodas are a la carte.

The menu this year includes baked fish and crab cakes (I didn't try those). St. Matthias always has their fryers outside in a special area, which you can see when you come into the school. I had the fried fish, which was lightly breaded and crisp, almost a beer batter, which was really good. The cole slaw, with red and green cabbage, left a little to be desired. Green beans were okay, but nothing extravagant. Not a lot of side choices, but a nice dining environment.

My grade: B+

Closed parishes update - St. Louis Review 2/23/07

The latest edition of the St. Louis Review has a front page story about what's happened to many of the closed parishes of 2005.

St. Boniface is only listed as being owned by Rothchild Properties, and no mention of turning it into a theater was in this article.

February 2 - Groundhog Day, interesting STB links

Happy Groundhog Day! Don't forget--tomorrow is the Feast of St. Blaise. Have your throat blessed while you can!

I have been a bit busy with my studies and some other items, so I have not updated this blog. Never fear, this is only a temporary situation. I am making time in my week to update a bit more regularly.

Lots of things have been happening lately. In late November, there was a news story in the South Side Journal that St. Boniface may be turned into a theatre of some sort. So far, there is no new news (that I can find online) to post a link re: this. In the event there is one, you'll see it here.

I just converted this blog to the new Blogger (I held off, because my other ones seemed to take so long and this is my biggest blog), so if you have any complaints, hit the Help buttons on this page and complain to the Blogger folks. :)

I ran into these interesting tidbits below. I will post links in our other St. Boniface pages soon. Hope you enjoy!
